Prime Winter Conditions at Bretton Woods

March 2nd and it was the first time this season that I have skied at Bretton Woods. This has been my ski area of choice in past seasons because of the Sunday afternoon discount for local residents. Early in the season I purchased a Vertical Value Card. This is good for discount skiing at Wildcat and Attitash. Bretton Woods increased the local resident discount to $25 but it's still a good deal.

High summits in gray overcast

Ready to ride!

Heading down Coos Caper terrain park

My son Brandon was joining me today with his snowboard. The day started cold and gloomy with late day clearing in the forecast. The high summits were lost in the overcast as we drove to Bretton Woods. We arrived at the parking area just as someone pulled out of a parking space in front of the lodge, good timing!

Looking down Bode's Run

Riding down Bode's Run

I purchased our lift tickets and we made our way to the top of the mountain. Conditions were very good with packed powder and all trails open. High speed quads with short lift lines and we soon lost count of the number of runs we made. We spent all afternoon skiing and riding with no break. Skies were clearing and the sun felt good!

Sunset at the end of a great weekend

Late afternoon and we planned on a couple more final runs but it was 3:50, the lifts close at 4:00. Time passes quickly when you're having fun! Winter is almost over and Spring conditions will soon be here. Cold temps but no significant snow is in the forecast for this week. I have a feeling that this might have been one of the last good weekends of prime Winter conditions this season.

Catching some air in the terrain park!
