Skiing on a Bluebird Day

We had two vouchers for a free day of skiing at Cranmore  Mountain Resort. My son and I decided that it would be a perfect day to use these lift tickets especially after yesterday's Nor'easter dumped some nice powder on the slopes. We would not be disappointed.

Travelling through Pinkham Notch to North Conway offerd unobstructed views of the Presidentials and surrounding mountains. I noticed the snow depths increasing the further south I drove. The highway maintenance crews did a great job of clearing the roads from the storm.

We reached Cranmore Mountain Resort and were directed to a parking spot that was a reasonable walk to the slopes in ski boots. After getting our lift tickets we skied over to the high speed quad for a quick trip to the summit. This would be the longest lift line of the day. We were able to find chairlifts with minimal lines or even no lines.

On the way up I could tell this was going to be an excellent day of skiing. The trails had a copious amount of packed powder. There was groomed powder as well as ungroomed powder and almost every trail was open. The only problem we encountered were the "open" glades. These definitely needed more snow and that would be our first and last time in the glades today. I don't think my skis could take any more of that abuse.

It was a day of blue sky, powder and spectacular views. This will definitely stand out as one of the best days of skiing this season!
