Weather conditions today were looking favorable for one of the epic winter hikes in the White Mountains. I would be joining Jill, Amy, Mark and Jim for the long trek deep into the Pemigewasset Wilderness to Bondcliff (4,265'), Mount Bond (4,698') and West Bond (4,540'). Our route would take us on the Lincoln Woods Trail to the Bondcliff Trail and onto the West Bond Spur. The return trip to Lincoln Woods on the Kancamagus Highway would go back over Mount Bond and Bondcliff for a 22.6 mile round trip hike.

Windy on the Wildcats
With sustained winds around hurricane force and gusts exceeding 100mph it would not be a day for hiking the Presidentials. Today I would be hiking the Wildcats with fellow hikers Jill, Amy, Robin, Jim, Larry and Marty. Our route would take us up the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail then a steep climb to Wildcat A (4,422') and across the Wildcat Ridge Trail to Wildcat D (4,062') and down the Polecat Ski Trail at Wildcat Ski Area.

Sunday Morning Hike to Mount Pierce
Another very cold morning but not nearly as frigid as last Sunday. I would be doing a solo hike to Mount Pierce (4,310') via the Crawford Path. After warm temps and rain over the last couple of days I was wondering what the trail conditions would be like. Water crossings would not be a problem as there are none but was hoping the trail would be frozen solid to avoid postholing.

Hiking When Hale Freezes Over
There's been a long spell of frigid weather and today would be no exception. Saturday was even colder with a howling wind. It was a good bet that there would be very few trails that had been broken out from the recent snowstorm. I would be hiking to Mount Hale today with fellow hikers Jill, Mark, Jim, Amy D, Amy L and Robin. Our route to the summit would be via the gated Zealand Road to Hale Brook Trail. The road walk makes a 4.4 mile hike into a 9.8 mile hike.
